We use Morningstar's Medalist Rating , a forward-looking, analyst-driven assessment of a fund's ability to outperform over a full market cycle. Only funds rated Gold, the highest conviction level, are included in our analysis.
How it works
Screen the universe
We scan thousands of active equity funds across 11 major categories, from Global Large-Cap to Emerging Markets, using Morningstar's data infrastructure.
Filter for the best
Only funds awarded the Morningstar Medalist Rating of Gold make the cut. These represent the highest-conviction, forward-looking analyst assessments of fund quality.
Extract & aggregate
We pull every individual holding from each qualifying fund, then aggregate them by weight to reveal the stocks that the world's best managers collectively favour most.
Concentrate into a Top 50
The result is a single, concentrated portfolio of 50 stocks, a distilled view of where the most talented active managers are actually putting their capital.
